BRAND SLOGAN- WHY DOES IT MATTER?
- July 1, 2016
Just do it. Think different. I'm lovin' it. Ideas for life. Eat fresh. Connecting People. The immediate thought that comes to your mind when you think of those words are Nike, Apple, McDonald's, Panasonic, Subway and Nokia. Right?
We hear thousands of words daily, but some make a greater impact than others. A brand slogan claims to be the most effective means of drawing attention to one or more aspects of a product or a brand. It can position itself in the minds of customers and impact them in such a way that they wouldn't forget it for life.
An advertising slogan can catapult a brand into fame easily! Here are 8 simple tips to make sure you do it the right way:
1. Keep it simple
The easier it is to read, the easier it is to understand your brand. There are brands that have gotten successful even with long slogans, but who doesn't love 'short and sweet'? Plus, people remember shorter taglines better.
2. Make it funny
A little humor never hurt anyone. If you can make their day without making a poor joke out of it, go for it.
3. Show them your X Factor
Find out your Unique Selling Proposition and include that in your slogan. Be creative and show them what's special about you and why you're different from the rest.
4. Don't forget your logo
Make sure your slogan complements your logo. Color, shape, visual content etc. matter a lot. You wouldn't want to send two different messages out with your logo and slogan.
5. Standalone feature
Your slogan should be able to tell people who you are through those few words you put out there. They should be able to figure out your brand persona without any additional hints.
6. Consider your market
Understand your market and the culture well before you begin to create your slogan. You'll also need to consider if your customers are local, national or international. Also, while translating it into another language, make sure you don't scare customers away with your language.
7. Add a pinch of emotion
Connect with customers. Use varying levels of emotions in your slogan to inspire and invoke a sense of interest in them.
8. Honesty is the best policy
Don't tell them what you're not. Your business should be able to deliver on the promise that your slogan makes.
Slogans make your brand easy to recall, remember and identify when it counts most, they make your brand more seem reliable. If your brand doesn't have a slogan, it's time to get one! Go ahead and create an impact!
